Service Description
The Drawing Year Overview Our Drawing Year is a comprehensive program designed for aspiring artists, consisting of four 12-week terms. The program runs throughout the year, with a brief summer break, and culminates in an end-of-year exhibition. Weekly Schedule and Attendance Students required to attend classes atleast thrice a week, focusing on various aspects of drawing and art practice. Sessions are scheduled in the afternoons from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, ensuring a consistent and structured learning environment. Curriculum Overview Term 1: Foundational Skills and Techniques Focuses on advanced drawing techniques such as shading and perspective. Introduces students to acrylic and watercolor painting, basics of digital art. Concludes with review sessions and project work, laying a solid foundation for more complex projects. Term 2: Exploring Art Movements and Mediums Covers advanced painting techniques, including landscape and still life. Introduces sculpture and explores various art movements like the Renaissance and Impressionism. Emphasizes research, replication, and presentation skills. Term 3: Cultural Studies and Mixed Media Focuses on mixed media, textile arts, and cultural art studies. Highlights African and Asian art traditions. Features a collaborative mural project to foster teamwork and large-scale creative expression. Term 4: Personal Projects and Professional Development Concentrates on figure drawing, abstract art, and advanced digital art techniques. Students undertake personal art projects and participate in critiques. Prepares students for the end-of-year exhibition, emphasizing professional presentation skills. Core Program Encourages exploration of new techniques and engagement with diverse themes. Integrates lectures, peer feedback, and critical discussions. Aims to push students towards innovative and creative ways of seeing and creating. Final Term and Exhibition Focuses on advanced techniques and personal project completion. The end-of-year exhibition showcases students' growth, skills, and creativity. Includes professional development sessions to prepare students for careers as practicing artists. Studio Practice Students are encouraged to maintain their studio practice outside of scheduled classes. This independent work allows them to apply classroom learning to personal projects and refine their artistic voice.
